Well it has been a couple of days since my last post. Since then I’ve been from Mobile Alabama, to New Orleans, to Houston, and now this evening I am in Waco. Waco you say? Why? Tomorrow morning I am hoping to be able to drop in and see Joanna and Chip Gaines.
AI love their show, and they have such a great relationship. They are doing well in Waco with developing their new “Silos” and apparently they also have a Bed and Breakfast as well…..
New Orleans was, well New Orleans. I spent much of the day on Sunday riding around on the little red street cars. You can see a lot of the City in those contraptions, and since many of the tourists use them, it is a great way to learn about the City and what others are doing.
Monday evening was spent in Houston, and Tuesday morning I was able to get into the Mercer Botanic Garden. It is run by the county, and is really quite beautiful. They are in the process of developing about another third of the garden, and it is interesting to see all the new plantings that will not mature for quite some time. Most Botanic Gardens are well developed, so it is nice to se a portion of this garden in its infancy. I always enjoy learning something new at each garden I visit. In this case I never knew there was a weeping Camellia! Who knew??? I must learn more about this plant.
There really is not much to do in Waco, so I think after my meeting with the Gaines, I am going to leave early in the day and go south to Austin. There are a number of public gardens in Austin that I want to see.
